A Venus' flower basket (Euplectella aspergillum) is a sponge living on the sea floor. Some of the sponges are inhabited by two luminescent shrimp. They enter the sponge at a young age, but as adults they have grown too big to get out. The glass-like surface of the sponge amplifies the light from the shrimp and lures in plankton as food for the shrimp. In Japan, the sponge serves as a wedding present.
